Disa Allsopp

Disa Allsopp shapes her jewellery like small ancient sculptures. She patinates each surface and works the metal to recreate the quiet imprint of time. Her creations, inspired by the treasures of long-lost civilisations, carry the warmth and light of the Caribbean, infused with memory and meaning. She was born in London and grew up in Barbados, surrounded by the vivid colours of the tropics and the lingering presence of ancient cultures. Egypt, Greece, and the Etruscans have all shaped her imagination and continue to echo through her work in gold and silver. After studying jewellery at Middlesex University and the Edinburgh College of Art, she opened her first studio on her native island before eventually settling in London. Her approach to metal is instinctive and tactile. She hammers, melts, and forges, leaving organic marks that reflect the raw spirit of the material. Massive rings in 18k gold, sometimes oxidised, twisted gold wires, and vibrant gemstones like garnet, sapphire, and citrine evoke the richness of her cultural and emotional landscapes. Every Disa Allsopp jewel bears the imprint of gesture, fire, and time — like an ancient force grounded in the present.
