Graduated from London’s Royal College of Art, Ruth Tomlinson is widely regarded as one of the most influential British jewellery designers of her generation.
She founded her eponymous brand in 2001, driven by a passion for unpredictable beauty and the magic of intricate details. Inspired by historical jewellery and the fleeting rhythms of nature, her creations reveal the poetic essence of lichen, polished crystals, and forgotten museum secrets.
In her atelier nestled in Hatton Garden — London’s historic jewellery district — Ruth and her small team of artisans breathe new life into the age-old craft of hand making. Innovative techniques, such as inlaying recycled gold granules and meticulously setting hand-selected, responsibly sourced gemstones, give each piece its organic, sculptural character. Every jewel feels like a treasure unearthed from a stream or an ancient, long-lost chest.
Fascinated by the thrill of discovery, Ruth practices mudlarking along the Thames, searching for ancient stones and time-worn pearls to incorporate into her work. To mark 20 years of her brand, she launched OffeRings — a collection of rings crafted from these found relics, symbolically returned to the river.
