What is your first jewellery memory ?
As a child I didn’t have jewellery but my grandmother gave me a collection of her sewing thimbles, they were all sterling silver, some were elaborately enameled, some encrusted with little gems, and some very simple and utilitarian. I used to wear one on each finger tip as jewellery.
What's the first piece that you designed ?
The first piece I designed was the cocoon pendant which lead to the cocoon ring. The piece was cast from the cocoon of a silk worm. I was interested in the texture and the form made by the worm and the wax picked up all the organic details.
What is your favorite stone ? Why ?
There is something about the emerald, the rich vibrancy of it, the color next to gold is so beautiful to look at, so satisfying… And it is said to protect the heart.
Do you have a piece of jewellery that you wear all year-round ?
I wear the norma constellation band with grey diamond pave as a pinky ring, the emerald twist ring and tiny diamond hoops.
Who are your favorite jewellery designers ?
I am mainly inspired by Byzantine, Hellenistic, and ancient Egyptian jewelry as well as 16th century mourning jewellery.
What are your greatest design influences ?
Sculpture, Art povera, Minimalism, contemporary and Surrealist. I love the work of Louise Bourgeois, Giacometti, Hilma AF Klint, Richard Serra, Jannis Kounellis, Carol Rama, Eva Hesse.
If you weren’t a jewellery designer, what would you do ?
Make sculpture, travel and paint :)

Leonard Cohen, Marianne Faithfull, Nick Cave, Harold Budd, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Bill Callahan, Nina Simone, Suicide, Nick Cave, Sibylle Baier, Bonnie Prince Billy, Max Richter, Cat Power.
