Aventurine
Ranging from soft, milky greens to deeper tones shot through with shimmering highlights, aventurine is a gemstone whose quiet appearance hides a compelling internal structure. Its distinctive sparkle — known as aventurescence — is created by tiny mineral inclusions, often mica or hematite, that catch the light.
Primarily sourced from India, Brazil and Russia, aventurine belongs to the large quartz family. Each deposit offers slightly different hues, from pale, almost translucent greens to richer, more saturated colours.
Across cultures, the stone has carried various symbolic associations. Some traditions regard it as a token of luck or a companion for building confidence.
With its gentle glow, nuanced palette and natural texture, aventurine continues to be appreciated in contemporary jewellery. A stone designers value for its quiet character and subtle depth.
